Expo Chicago 2025 to Partner with Galleries Association of Korea
Twenty Korean galleries will exhibit in the fair’s main sector, including Seoul‑based galleries BHAK, Gallery Baton, and Keumsan Gallery. Save to My Ocula
Expo Chicago will host more than 170 galleries from 36 countries at the Navy Pier’s Festival Hall from 24 to 27 April 2025.
The fair, which was acquired by Frieze in 2023, will for the first time partner with the Galleries Association of Korea in an initiative supported by Korea’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Korea Arts Management Service.
The 2025 edition will feature 20 Korean galleries in the main sector, including Gallery Baton, BHAK, Keumsan Gallery, and The Columns Gallery.
Hwang Dalseung, president of the Galleries Association of Korea, said the initiative was ‘based on the synergy between Kiaf Seoul and Frieze Seoul,’ both of which have ‘created a new model of win-win through fair-to-fair collaboration in the contemporary art market.’
Kristell Chadé, executive director of fairs at Frieze, said in a statement: ‘We look forward to [...] exploring how the cross-pollination between our fairs can add value to each, fostering new connections and opportunities across regions.’
Close to 80 galleries are slated to partake in Expo Chicago’s main sector, including global veterans like Nara Roesler (São Paulo/New York/Rio De Janeiro), Monique Meloche Gallery (Chicago), Michael Rosenfeld Gallery (New York), and DOCUMENT (Chicago/Lisbon).
In 2022, Frieze Seoul launched its inaugural edition in partnership with the Galleries Association of Korea, the organisation behind national art fair Kiaf Seoul. The association comprises approximately 170 Korea-based galleries. —[O]
