UCCA Announces 2025 Exhibition Programme

The UCCA Center for Contemporary Art has announced its exhibition programme for 2025, including seven exhibitions at their headquarters in Beijing and two shows at UCCA Dune in Beidaihe.
The year will begin with an Anicka Yi exhibition co-organised with the Leeum Museum of Art. Known for her use of organic materials and forms, Yi created floating ‘aerobes’ for In Love with the World, the 2020 Hyundai Commission presented at Tate’s Turbine Hall in 2021. Taking place from 22 March to 15 June next year, the exhibition features new commissions alongside earlier pieces.
Swiss artist Pipilotti Rist will present video installations, including a new site-specific commission for UCCA’s Great Hall, from 19 July to 19 October 2025. The exhibition is curated by UCCA’s Yan Fang.
Shanghai-based video artist Yang Fudong will present his most comprehensive institutional exhibition from 15 November 2025 to 22 February 2026. The exhibition includes the first instalment of Yang’s ‘Library Film Project’, which was inspired by the artist’s childhood on the outskirts of Beijing and attempts to portray a complex reality, both real and constructed.
The other artists with solo exhibitions at UCCA Beijing next year are 2023 Maria Lassnig Award-winner Lubaina Himid (18 January 2025–27 April 2025), painter Chen Ke (17 May 2025–7 September 2025), sculptor Liao Fei (17 May 2025–7 September 2025), and Japanese artist Koki Tanaka (27 September 2025–4 January 2026).
Exhibitions at UCCA Dune will spotlight emerging Chinese artist Hu Yinping and British-Singaporean sculptor Kim Lim (1936–1997).
UCCA’s Shanghai museum, UCCA Edge, has been closed since February, but there are plans for it to reopen in 2025. Meanwhile, a new institution devoted to ceramics—UCCA Clay—opened in nearby Yixing on 19 October. —[O]
