Serial (2020) is one of 11 paintings included in Haitian-born painter, sculptor, and ceramicist Manuel Mathieu‘s solo show Son of Voodoo at HdM Gallery in Beijing.
Influenced by the ancient ritual of libation, Mathieu’s works—of poured paint and curdled hues—are enigmatic iterations of this transcendental method.
There will be another chance to see Mathieu’s paintings in China next year when the Longlati Foundation in Shanghai present a major solo exhibition of his work.
