Turning our attention to Hong Kong is Sotheby’s with their forthcoming Contemporary Day and Evening auctions, set for 6–7 October. We’ve got our eye on Lucy Bull, Anna Park, and Lynne Mapp Drexler.

It will be interesting to see how Lucy Bull flies this time, having broken her auction record at Phillips’ in the summer with her large-scale painting series 8:50 (2020) selling for HK$11.4 million.

The compelling charcoal drawings of Korean-American artist Anna Park were recently the subject of a brilliant solo show at the Shanghai art space, Pond Society. Park gained representation with Blum & Poe at the end of last year.

Lastly, the rediscovery of Lynne Mapp Drexler has propelled works by the late American painter into the big league evening sale market.
