Photo Highlights from Sydney Contemporary 2025
11–14 September 2025 Save to My OculaSydney Contemporary 2025 at Carriageworks marked its most expansive edition yet, bringing 114 exhibitors and over 500 artists to the heart of Sydney.
New this year was ‘Photo Sydney’, a dedicated sector elevating contemporary photography, while the ‘Installations’ program included nine striking, site-specific works—among them Lisa Reihana’s shimmering disc gateway and Jonny Niesche’s sound-responsive light environments.
Performances by Christian Thompson AO and Kalisolaite ‘Uhila explored identity and ritual, as audience-immersive works activated space throughout the fair. Alongside these, the ‘Future’, ‘Works on Paper’, and ‘Galleries’ sectors offered vibrant conversations between emerging and established practices, all complemented by a program of talks, live events and evening activations.
