Almine Rech New York, Upper East Side is pleased to present ‘MIRACLE,’ Joël Andrianomearisoa’s third solo exhibition with the gallery, on view from March 6 to April 19, 2025. The exhibition is exemplary of Andrianomearisoa’s practice which has evolved to include drawing, raphia, textile, and sewing, among other techniques. Born 1977 in Antananarivo, Andrianomearisoa represents a generation of postcolonial artists who navigate complex cultural landscapes with extraordinary sensitivity. Trained as an architect at the École Spéciale d’Architecture in Paris, his work seamlessly integrates spatial awareness with material intelligence, collapsing distinctions between visual art, architecture, textile design, and conceptual exploration. Andrianomearisoa’s upcoming exhibition, ‘MIRACLE’ at Almine Rech New York—his first solo commercial gallery show in the United States—marks a significant moment in his trajectory. Structured in three distinct movements, “Hands,” “Figures and Gestures,” and “Miracle,” the exhibition is not merely a presentation of objects but an invitation into an immersive choreography of touch, form, and presence.

Born in 1977 in Antananarivo, Madagascar, Joël Andrianomearisoa lives and works between Paris and Antananarivo. He obtained a degree in architecture from the Ecole Speciale d’Architecture in Paris in 2003. Embracing a large variety of mediums, including installation, drawing, craft, textile, performance, video and photography, his work investigates the materiality of emotions. Driven by his strong interest in human relationships, the artist expresses feelings through matter, textures, forms and atmospheres. Mixing traditional know-how and craftmanship with the sentimentalism of the digital age, his work reintroduces poetry and sentimentality in minimalist tradition. An artist of his time, he considers his work as ongoing exercises, constantly extracting all the possibilities of textiles, silk paper, glass, flowers, and a variety of objects such as mirrors, to create a multi-faceted, polyphonic oeuvre.

Almine Rech opened its doors on April 1st, 1997 in the 13th arrondissement in Paris. The gallery was founded on an axis of California Minimal, Perceptual art and Conceptual art, representing artists such as James Turrell, John McCracken and Joseph Kosuth.
