Baik Art Jakarta is pleased to present Then & Now, an exhibition curated by Vivi Yip honoring the legacy of YICA (Young Indonesian Contemporary Artists), a groundbreaking platform that introduced emerging artists to the local and international art scene, through the establishment of Vivi Yip Art Room in 2008. Bringing her previous experiences, including a decade in an auction house, Vivi Yip and her gallery tried to delve further into the art world and its various elements while maintaining an honest, easy-going existence. As Vivi quoted, to’be present and glide.’

After nearly two decades from its inception, the exhibition reunites the eleven artists: Agan Harahap, Angki Purbandono, Arkiv Vilmansa, Badruzzaman, Erik Pauhrizi, Hendra ‘HeHe’ Harsono, Ronald Apriyan, Sutra Djarot, Syagini Ratna Wulan, Theresia Agustina, and Wastuwidyawan Paramaputra, along with Arin Dwihartanto Sunaryo, Erika Ernawan, and Iqi Qoror.

Then & Now presents a rendezvous of each artist’s journey in exploring and maturing their practices throughout the years: some further explore their trusted medium while voicing current solicitude, some continue to deepen their research and visualize them through different approaches, visualising growth, transformation, and continuity.

In November 2022, BAIK ART opened its third location in Jakarta, Indonesia, with the inaugural exhibition titled Tumpeng. This new expansion can be traced back to BAIK ART’s residency exchange programme with Indonesian arts institutions and artists and aims to deepen a dialogue between Indonesian and global art scenes.
