Galería RGR is pleased to present, for the edition of Estación Material 2022 in the Galerías section, an exhibition project that brings together Patrick Hamilton, Paul Muguet, Francisco Muñoz and Diego Pérez. Four Latin American artists who, from multidisciplinary perspectives, have focused on material experimentation within their artistic practice. This experimentation lies in a work that constantly seeks to go beyond the conventional spaces and materials of the artwork.
With The Chicago Boy's Project (La mano invisible #3), 2019, Patrick Hamilton offers an installation constructed from prints on red paper of letters, photographs, magazine covers and books related to the history of neoliberalism in Chile.
Paul Muguet presents works that take up different textile motifs from Mexican visual culture. The artist recovers the designs of the typical sarapes of Saltillo and Zapotec rugs, and in both series he experiments with adhesive tape to interweave the pigments, which are used as they come from the paint tube.
Francisco Muñoz offers 'improbable' images, which are the result of material transformations in sculpture and new conceptual associations in photography.
The work of Diego Pérez brings together pieces that demonstrate the complexity of his sculptural imagination, in which every material is an inexhaustible source of forms. His production is the result of a multidisciplinary artistic practice that continually plays with the limits that divide art from other types of objects.
The artists' experiments with materials are reflections on the way we use objects and signify them. We see the immediate consequences of these experiments in the reconfiguration of the boundaries between the everyday object and the artwork.
