Other significant works by classic modern masters such as Joan Miró, Fernand Léger, Yves Klein as well as Louise Nevelson whose estates are represented by Galerie Gmurzynska since several decades will be showcased prominently in our booth that is located on the opposite of the VIP Lounge Entrance.

Johnny Pigozzi’s photos for the exclusive Art Basel in Miami Beach premiere at Galerie Gmurzynska will feature the latest series called “Charles and Saatchi”. A newly released book by Damiani with a text by Charles Saatchi about this new series co-published with Gmurzynska will accompany the showcase. Vanity Fair’s October issue featured a lengthy essay on Pigozzi referring to him as the Picasso of the celebrity selfies.

In addition, an important selection of previously never offered works by Matta and Lam will be presented for the first time in this broadly selected classic modern masters’ presentation that will be placed in context in the discourse of engaging scholarly research. The Lam estate has been represented by Galerie Gmurzynska for over seven years leading to severalexhibitions, four publications (one of which is in Chinese), and fruitful museum collaborationsculminating in Lam’s traveling retrospectives at the Centre Pompidou, Paris; Museo ReinaSofia, Madrid and Tate Modern, London.

After taking on the Matta estate this year, Galerie Gmurzynska has presented unseen early masterworks and sculptures in three group shows. For Art Basel Miami Beach, GalerieGmurzynska will again present major works by Matta that have never been available before.One of these masterworks _Phosphorece (Le Cube Ouvert), _1949 is central to Matta’soeuvre in specific and to the course of Surrealist Post-war Art in general, as it materializesthe discovery of regions of space unexplored in the realms of art (as Duchamp put it onMatta’s work).

In addition, Galerie Gmurzynska will show a selection of Pop-art classics ranging from Robert Indiana, who has been represented for over a decade facilitating importantretrospectives such as the ones at the Whitney Museum in New York and the State RussianMuseum in St. Petersburg, as well as Roy Lichtenstein, with rarely seen defining large scaleworks coming from important private collections.
