Galerie Lelong, New York is pleased to announce that Yoko Ono: Music of the Mind is now on view at The Broad in Los Angeles, California, through October 11, 2026. This is the first solo museum exhibition in Southern California for Ono.
This survey celebrates the visionary artist, musician, and activist whose work has shaped contemporary culture for more than seven decades, inviting visitors to directly participate in many of Ono’s works that transform simple acts into expressions of peace and connection. Among the works on view are early “instruction” works from the mid-1950s to today, including the typescript drafts for her famous 1964 book Grapefruit; materials from the artist’s international campaigns peace and displays of anti-war activism, such as Acorn Event (1968) and Bed Peace (1969); film and video, including footage of Ono’s most famous participatory performance work, Cut Piece (1964); and a selection of contemporary installations from the past two decades. Additionally, the Broad’s olive trees on East West Bank Plaza become Wish Trees for Los Angeles, a key installation (first realized in 1996 at Shoshana Wayne Gallery, Santa Monica) inviting audiences to tie their own wishes to the tree branches in a living expression of hope in Los Angeles.
Yoko Ono: Music of the Mind is organized by Tate Modern, London in collaboration with The Broad, Los Angeles. Curated by Juliet Bingham, Curator, International Art, Tate Modern. The Broad presentation is curated by Sarah Loyer, Curator and Exhibitions Manager.

Yoko Ono is a multi-media artist working in performance, instruction, film, installation, music, and writing. A forerunner in conceptual art involving collaboration, audience participation, and social activism since the early 1960s, Ono challenges viewers’ understanding of art and the world around them. Her influence spans many of the key artistic movements of the late 20th century including Fluxus, conceptual art, video art, and feminism. In addition to her work as a visual artist, Ono is also a musical pioneer, both an accomplished singer and songwriter.
