Lahab

This work was inspired by a chance encounter with a mysterious symbol engraved on a ruined stele in one of the gardens of the Beiteddine Palace. It is a shape reminiscent of a seashell or a sun with a central point. For the ancients, the radiance of the centre is the seat of the invisible and the inexpressible. This “sun” with its 120-meter-long trail of golden carpets, sits enthroned in the large courtyard at the entrance to the palace, as if to attract celestial energies and immerse our bodies in a collective luminous purification.

Oro Terram

Praying the Earth is a counterpoint to the exhibition “Oro Tenebris”, praying the darkness at the Tanit Beirut gallery. Listening, imploring the darkness, the body standing between heaven and earth, the night is the path leading to the light as black is at the centre of the flame.
