Like holding up a torch in a fathomless cavern, I excavate images through applying and removing layers of paint. The underbelly of the earth is rife with faces and places and bodies that melt into one another. Caves are our refuge from the threats of this harsh and cold world, but how can we hide from the demons and the ghosts within?

Time of Flowers, Ziad Antar

Flowers, cacti, and strange parasitic blooms all grow as storytellers, carrying myth, memory and the marks of history. Sunflowers that turn too slowly for the camera invite painted movement. White anemones dipped in the myth of Adonis bloom red again through pigment. Parasitic orobanché rise, beautiful and destructive at once. And the cacti—once a natural border—now stand beside wires and walls, witnessing how landscapes are reshaped and territories rewritten. Together, these works reveal a world where plants are never passive. They are archives, boundaries, warnings, and quiet acts of resistance, letting experimentation result in unexpected aesthetics, and allowing each leaf, thorn, and petal speaks of the forces shaping the land.
