Matthew Marks is pleased to announce Vija Celmins: Winter, the next exhibition in his gallery at 522 West 22nd Street. The artist’s first exhibition of new work in six years includes nine paintings, four sculptures, and one print.

About the Artist

Carnegie Prize-winning artist Vija Celmins’ meticulous drawings, paintings, print and sculpture bring to life the detail of nature, bringing viewers’ attention to the complexity of the visible world. Her painstakingly produced work has also been inspired by found photography and the ephemera of art-studio life.

About the Gallery
Founded in New York in 1991, Matthew Marks Gallery represents thirty-four artists of different generations working in a wide range of mediums, including painting, sculpture, photography, and printmaking.

Today the gallery maintains exhibition spaces totaling more than 18,000 square feet, with three locations in New York and two in Los Angeles.

Each year we present between thirteen and fifteen exhibitions, many accompanied by original publications.
