Victoria Miro (Booth: 3D) is delighted to participate in Shanghai’s West Bund Art & Design 2015. At the leading contemporary art and design fair in China, Victoria Miro will present the strength of its painting programme through a curated showing of paintings by artists across different generations of its roster. This includes: important pieces from the estate of Alice Neel; a major work by Chris Ofili and a selection of other paintings on canvas by leading artists Jules de Balincourt, Chantal Joffe and Tal R.
Conrad Shawcross offers an intriguing highlight to the Victoria Miro showing with his latest small-scale sculptures. Collectable in their own right, these sculptures can also work as maquettes for larger commissioned works. Shawcross is currently working on a large-scale outdoor public sculpture called The Canopy for Beijing based Guo Rui Properties. This is due for completion in 2017 and will be installed in the public plaza of a Foster + Partners development in south Beijing. On show at the stand are Manifold Study 5:4, Paradigm Chamfer (Solid), and Paradigm Exploded.
At the same time as the West Bund fair, Victoria Miro gallery artist Secundio Hernandez is presenting a solo show Four Seasons Between Spring and Summer (27 August - 1 October, 2015) at the Yuz Museum in Shanghai. The artist’s first showing in the region, it includes a series of four specially commissioned monumental canvases that will hang in the glass atrium of the museum building.
Victoria Miro’s presentation at West Bund Art & Design 2015 is part of a series of shows that coincide with the gallery’s 30th anniversary. Victoria Miro is presenting a number of other important exhibitions in the Asia Pacific region, including: Yayoi Kusama at the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts, Taichung (6 June to 31 August 2015); Elmgreen & Dragset at PLATEAU, Samsung Museum of Art, Seoul (22 July to 18 October 2015); Grayson Perry at the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia, Sydney (10 December – 1 May 2016); Sarah Sze at the Guangzhou Triennial (11 December 2015 – 10 April 2016); Elmgreen & Dragset at UCCA, Beijing (opening on January 6th 2016).
