Alexandra Jabre (b.1985, Paris) is a Lebanese-British figurative painter living in London. Her work explores developing a visual language beyond the representational using water-based mediums. Being multicultural and having lived in many countries, she prioritises people and relations to loved ones, where human connections surpass questions around identity, culture or the whereabouts of one’s physical home.
‘Through my paintings I aim to develop a dialogue that speaks to observation, relationships, and intimacy. By connecting the subconscious with a version of reality as experienced, the overlapping forms often create an ambiguous space. Within this space, human bonds and connections are the basis for my perception of “home”—questioning how the idea of home as the locus of intimacy might be condensed into the concept of Love.’
Jabre graduated from Brown University in 2007 and obtained her MFA from the School of Visual Arts in New York in 2017.
