Almin Zrno is widely recognised as one of the most influential photographers from Bosnia and Herzegovina. Born in 1966, remote from the world photography centres, Zrno discovered his love for photography and joined the renowned photo club CEDUS in Sarajevo, where he got introduced to the magical world of his future profession. He soon began exhibiting his artwork in numerous exhibitions organised in ex-Yugoslavia. At the age of 17, he received his first award for the best photograph at the state level competition.
Turbulent teenage years and the Bosnian war in the early 1990’s kept him away from photography for a period of ten years. In 1996, he continued to pursue his career, working mainly in the field of journalistic photography as the head of photo department for two local newspapers. This work resulted with two awards for best published photograph, awarded to Zrno by the Association of Journalists of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
In 2000, he became a member of Association of Applied Artists and Designers of Bosnia and Herzegovina (ULUPUBiH), which he currently presides. In 2003, he organised his first solo exhibition titled _STAGE_ at the Art Gallery of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Until today, he organised 17 solo exhibitions in Bosnia and Herzegovina and abroad. Zrno was awarded six prestigious awards Collegium Artisticum for best photograph and holds a status of independant prominent artist of Canton Sarajevo. He published his first monograph _Vijećnica–Almin Zrno_ in 2015.
