Deborah Paauwe was born in Pennsylvania, United States in 1972. She completed a Bachelor of Arts (Visual Arts), SA School of Art, University of South Australia (1994) and MA Fine Art, Chelsea School of Art, The London Institute, UK (2000).
Deborah has exhibited widely nationally & internationally in countries including China, Spain, Singapore, New Zealand & USA. Group exhibitions include Deep Space: new acquisitions from the Australian art collection, Art Gallery of SA, Adelaide (2012); Black Box White Cube, the Arts Centre, Melbourne (2011); Imagining the Everyday, Pingyao International Photography Festival, China (2010); Fotonoviembre 2007, photographic biennial, Centro de Fotografía, Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain; Light Sensitive: Contemporary Australian Photography from the Loti Smorgon Fund, The Ian Potter Centre: NGV Australia at Federation Square, Melbourne (2006); Dutch Under, Canvas International Art, Amstelveen, Netherlands (2006). Collections include the National Gallery of Australia; National Gallery of Victoria; Art Gallery of SA; Art Gallery of WA & National Portrait Gallery.
Deborah currently lives & works in Adelaide, South Australia.
