ESTER FLECKNER
The Danish artist Ester Fleckner (*1983 in Denmark) explores language and materials in ways that preserve traces of the process, and privilege the repetitive labour of trial and error. Working from queer epistemology, Fleckner seeks chaotic and intuitive ways of knowing, always morphing along the way towards no particular endpoint. Using primarily the serial woodcut print as well as castings as mediums Fleckner employs an abstract aesthetic to counteract normative tendencies.
Ester Fleckner has had several solo exhibitions e.g. at Overgaden Institute of Art, Copenhagen and group exhibitions e.g. at the Malmö Konsthall, the Kunstnernes Hus in Oslo and the National Art Museum of Ukraine in Kiev. She has been the recipient of numerous grants and prizes, including grants from The Danish Arts Foundation, the Art Brussels Solo Prize and the Ole Haslunds Kunstnerfond.
Her works are amongst others in the collections of the Kupferstichkabinett Berlin and the National Gallery of Denmark.
