New ZealandIn their work et al. investigate ideas which relate to group culture and behaviour. Scientific experiments, political ideologies, the classroom and the most extreme of religious rituals are dismantled and exposed as mind-control mechanisms. Thanks to these associations, the work of et al. is especially meaningful in the wake of recent developments in global politics.
In 2005 et al. represented New Zealand at the 51st Venice Biennale. In 2004 et al.‘s restricted access was awarded the Walters Prize by US curator Robert Storr.
