Jānis Avotiņš was born in Riga in 1981 and studied at the Art Academy of Latvia. His works have been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions at home and abroad. Awarded the Prix Jean-François Prat in 2016, he is represented in private and public exhibitions around the world, including the Rubell Family Collection, the Cranford Collection, the Hort Family Collection, the François Pinault Collection, the Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo and the Sammlung zeitgenössischer Kunst der Bundesrepublik Deutschland. Galerie Rüdiger Schöttle has been showing works by Jānis Avotiņš since the beginning of his carreer and put on his first solo exhibition in 2005.
