Born in Slovenia, Magda Cebokli has lived in Australia since she was a young child. Prior to becoming an artist, she worked as a psychologist in both the research and clinical areas. Her interest in inner process and in the way meaning is made connects this past career with her artistic practice.
She lived and studied art in New York and Hong Kong before coming back to Australia in 1994. Since then she completed a BA with Honours and in 2001, a Master of Arts by Research at RMIT in Victoria. She was awarded an inaugural Siemens Art Prize in 2000 and has been shortlisted for a number of other prizes since. Working full time from her studio in Brunswick, Victoria, Magda exhibits regularly in both solo and group exhibitions.
