Nadine Christensen is an Australian artist, born in 1969. She attended Monash University where she received a Bachelor of Arts and later in 2006 her Master of Arts. She also gained a Post Graduate Diploma from the Victorian College of Arts. In her painting practice, she is interested in the phenomena of geography and atmosphere. Her work aims to examine the different possibilities and conditions of perception and light, tracing the illusory spaces that can imitate and invert the natural world. Christensen depicts in her paintings objects from both the natural and manmade world, and arranges them on shallow planes of the canvas surface. She primarily works as an acrylic painter, however she has also engaged in sculpture and installation to bring full depth to her forms.
Christensen has held several solo exhibitions in Australian cities such as Melbourne, Adelaide, and Sydney. She has also been included in a number of group exhibtions across Australia and also in Los Angeles and Japan. Her work is in the public collections of the National Gallery of Victoria, Monash University, Buxton Collection, Maquarie Bank Limited, Joyce Nissan Collection, and the Latrobe Regional Gallery. She has lectured at Universities in both Australia and New Zealand, and in 2007 received the Deans Award for Excellence in Teaching from Monash University. She currently lives and works in Melbourne.
