Xu Ruotao has been working as an independent artist since 1991. He has experimented with various forms of artistic expression, and numerous mediums. Yet, he has always returned to painting. Oxidation presents a new group of works that appear to take a thematic look at the mysteries of outer space. For the artist, the subject is but a hook upon which to hang his impulse: the urge to communicate ideas, concepts and emotions via the picture plane.
