Zhiliang Zhao (b. 1996, Shenzhen, China) received an interdisciplinary B.F.A. from the University of Southern California in 2019 and currently lives and works in Shanghai. Inspired by objects, images, and events in his daily encounter, Zhao’s work functions as a resistance to domineering narratives and a sustained desire to carve out a space of belonging. His media span sculpture, ceramics, installation, painting, and photography, and continue to expand.
His recent solo exhibition Partition in Lulu by X Museum, CDMX (2021) was supported by the Lulu by X Museum Fellowship. His recent group exhibitions include A Minor Constellation, Chris Sharp Gallery, Los Angeles (2022); USB Multi-Port Linking Exhibition, QiaoSpace, Shanghai (2021); Rituals in Rituals of the Future II: Cow Bell, Shanghai Himalayas Museum, Shanghai (2021); The Unanswered Question, AM Art Space, Shanghai (2020); Pure Beauty, BANK, Shanghai (2020).
