41st EVA International Lines up a Whole Village of Artists in Limerick
By Zian Chen – 4 March 2025, Limerick

EVA International—Ireland’s Biennial of Contemporary Art—has announced the full list of participating artists and partnerships for its 41st edition, set to take place across the fishmongers and family homes of Limerick.

Titled It Takes a Village, the biennial will take place from 29 August to 26 October 2025, expanding its titular premise to recognise artworks as nurturing ecosystems that connect humans, non-humans, and collectives.

Eszter Szakács, formerly part of the curatorial collective for OFF-Biennale Budapest (2017, 2021) and the 2021 Kyiv Biennial team, will collaborate with EVA’s Matt Packer, Eimear Redmond, and Ailbhe W. Drohan.

Featuring international and Irish artists, the programme aims to foster dialogue on community and shared artistic practices. Among the 13 artists and groups invited are Reza Afisina, Marwa Arsanios, Naeem Mohaiemen, Eoghan Ryan, and Eimear Walshe, who formerly participated in the 2021 EVA International Platform Commissions.

The biennial will present new commissions by Yazan Khalili, Mohaiemen, Ciarán Ó Dochartaigh, and Ryan, as well as a major presentation by Ana Bravo-Peréz.

The event will unfold beyond traditional spaces, across fishmongers, family homes, and organisations such as OFF-Biennale Budapest. —[O]
