Frieze Seoul has awarded Galerie Quynh the Frieze Seoul Stand Prize.
An installation of Calder-esque mobiles using recycled bomb metal by Vietnamese-American artist Tuan Andrew Nguyen was displayed in deep blue that made the works' bright orange accents sing.
The booth was selected by a jury of institutional directors and curators comprising Christopher Lew, Wassan Al-Khudhairi, and Victoria Sung.
Tokyo gallery Parcel won the Stand Prize in the Focus Asia section, which is dedicated to younger galleries from the region.
Parcel's booth was another solo presentation, this time by Chinese artist Lu Yang. They showed Lu's animated film DOKU–The Flow (2024).
On Instagram, Lu wrote, 'Everything happened so unexpectedly—standing in front of the booth, chatting with people, and suddenly a group of people appeared and handed us a golden cardboard with the award written on it.' —[O]
