Anderson Ranch Arts Center in Colorado, U.S., has named Marilyn Minter as its 2026 International Artist Honoree, recognising a career that has profoundly shaped contemporary conversations around beauty, politics, and representation through a provocative practice that spans painting, photography, video, and installation.
The award will be celebrated during the centre’s ‘Ranch Week’ in Aspen/Snowmass from 13 to 18 July, where Minter’s impact on contemporary art will be honoured at the annual Ranch Gala on 15 July alongside a public screening of Pretty Dirty (2025), the documentary tracing her influential and fearless practice.
Minter is the 28th recipient of the annual award, which was first launched in 1997. Previous recipients include Christian Marclay, Simone Leigh, and Theaster Gates.
Minter will join Lisa Phillips, Director of the New Museum, for a public conversation on 14 July, as part of the Anderson Ranch’s 2026 Summer Series programme. With weekly live lectures and Q&A conversations from July through August, the series will place influential artists in dialogue with leading critics, curators, and collectors, fostering a sustained forum for critical exchange and reflection.
Presented within Anderson Ranch’s longstanding mission to foster experimentation, exchange, and community, the award situates Minter among a lineage of artists whose work has reshaped visual culture and expanded the possibilities of contemporary artistic discourse.
