Miami Fair Untitled Art will launch a new boutique fair at Houston’s George R. Brown Convention Center, which recently announced a $2 billion development plan, next year.
‘Texas—and Houston specifically with its vast resources, great cultural wealth and standing as a gateway to Latin America—offers a myriad of opportunities to a growing brand like Untitled Art,’ said Jeffrey Lawson, who founded the Miami fair 12 years ago.
As well as Jessica Silverman Gallery (San Francisco) and Various Small Fires (L.A., Seoul, Dallas), Untitled Art, Houston will feature Half Gallery (New York, Los Angeles) and Luis De Jesus Los Angeles (L.A.).
The fair’s section for emerging galleries, ‘Nest’, will feature galleries including 12.26 (Dallas), Seven Sisters (Houston), Martha’s (Austin), and Megan Mulrooney (Los Angeles).
The full list of exhibitors will be announced in spring 2025.
Los Angeles writer and curator Michael Slenske will direct Untitled Art, Houston.
Slenske said, ‘Houston is a rich tapestry of contemporary and historic positions aided by recent milestone additions to The Menil Collection and Museum of Fine Arts, Houston as well as the key expansion plans for the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston (CAMH), the Orange Show for Visionary Art, LMAAHH’s Latino cultural complex and the Ismaili Center on the horizon. These are all thoughtful investments in a vibrant arts scene, one that is filled with so many great artists and galleries that we’re excited to partner with.’
Untitled Art will present more than 170 exhibitors in Miami from 4 to 8 December, 2024. —[O]
