Arario Gallery is pleased to announce its participation in KIAF Seoul 2022 from 2 to 6 September 2022, both on-site and online. Exhibiting at both FRIEZE Seoul and KIAF Seoul, Arario Gallery will introduce a selection of experimental works that reflect the core values of Arario from the perspective of various artists.
The presentation highlights a selection of works by internationally active Asian artists born in the 70s and 80s such as Kohei NAWA's sculpture from his 'Ether' series made through 3D modelling a liquid droplet. NAWA is currently showing at the Towada Art Centre, Aomori and Mori Art Museum, Tokyo, Japan. Paintings of anonymous figures by Eko NUGROHO, who has held solo exhibitions at the Asia Society, New York; The Art Gallery of New South Wales, Sydney; and Musée d'Art Moderne de Paris; and Uji Handoko Eko Saputro's satirical paintings that depict decorative elements from brand logos and cartoon characters to illustrate the divide between 'high art' and 'low art' will also be on view.
Works by established artists who have been representing Korea in each of their field from the 60s and 70s up until today will be exhibited. Some of these works include the well-known newspaper series by one of Korea's first experimental artists, CHOI Byungso, photographs by the pioneer of Korean avantgarde photography, HWANG Gyutae, in which images are magnified and transformed into pixels to produce various patterns, and a bronze sculpture by RYU In, a charismatic figurative sculptor. Photographs from the 'Interracial Couples' series, which unravels the distorted stereotypes of identity and race today, by BYUN Soonchoel and paintings by PARK Kiwon, who participated in the Korean Pavilion at the Venice Biennale and was selected as Artist of the Year by the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, will be included in the presentation.
ARARIO GALLERY also introduces new works by LEE Dongwook and JANG Jongwan alongside DON Sunpil's sculpture, which was on view in the group exhibition 'Sculptural Impulse' at BukSeoul Museum of Art. This year's comprehensive presentation provides an opportunity for a diverse group of collectors to appreciate and discover the unique identity of Arario Gallery.
