Bartha Contemporary is pleased to present an exhibition featuring works by Ethan Cook, Henrik Eiben and Beat Zoderer.
During a recent research trip to Bangladesh, the Swiss artist Beat Zoderer commissioned local artisans to produce a set of carpets; the first in a series of five is exhibited here. Each work follows similar compositional principles, yet each is uniquely arranged.
Henrik Eiben’s installation consists of four parts, each different to the one beside but of equal dimension. Eiben plays with our senses, different materials and finishes expose the playful nature of the work and subvert the seemingly repetitive form.
All pieces in this group show employ textiles; Ethan Cook’s handwoven works perfectly complement the installation. These paintings combine a strong geometric language with the highly tactile quality of the handmade fabrics and showcase an inherent sensibility for colour and composition.
The exhibition continues until June 24th by appointment.

Established at the turn of the century by Niklas and Daniela von Bartha, the London-based gallery, Bartha Contemporary, places a strong emphasis on non-figurative and conceptual works by mostly established American and European contemporary artists. Hailing from the second generation of the art-dealing von Bartha family, Niklas, along with his wife Daniela, maintains a retrospective look at underappreciated modernising movements of the past in the gallery programme, whilst championing the latest works of contemporary artists.
