Dellasposa Gallery is delighted to present a new exhibition at ‘The OWO Residences by Raffles’ in London. This historic venue, once the former War Office, now serves as a unique setting for an exhibition that meditates on a pivotal period in Britain’s history.
Featuring artists touched by the tempest of war and its global aftershocks at a formative stage in their artistic development, Post-War/Modern explores both modern abstract and figurative art made in Britain during these post-war years, a period redefined by dynamic change and the ‘shock of the new’ in artistic creation; not determined by movements or mediums as such, but rather their shared experiences, themes, and ideas in creating a new expression and vision in a quest for renewal.
Modern British art showcased here reflects a profound shift in the artistic landscape of London, with works by Howard Hodgkin, Bridget Riley, Francis Bacon, Lucian Freud, Patrick Heron, Anthony Gormley, Henry Moore, Terry Frost, William Scott, David Hockney, David Bailey and more.
