Fabienne Levy is pleased to announce the first solo exhibition in Switzerland of Rebecca Brodskis.
Equilibres challenges all our visual and mental notions.
The artist forms a set of contrasting works despite their apparent similarities. The movements of the characters with universal faces are extreme, on the verge of change.
The colour repeats, overlaps and finds itself. Sometimes a stable state, peaceful, unchanging and harmonious, sometimes representative of dynamism as a swing without end.
The balance is a permanent imbalance.
The title of the exhibition questions our mental state: indeed, our psyche constantly navigates between different feelings. Stability and instability, hope and fear, optimism and pessimism, serenity and stress.
It is a continuous correction of excesses, a struggle between opposite energies. Balance exists only by opposition. It involves a confrontation between opposing forces.
But these forces can also be seen as complementary, equivalent, even identical and interchangeable, which would mean that imbalances are illusory: the whole is always balanced, since it is one.
