‘Daguerre’s dioramas created the illusion of another place. They often recreated political events or natural disasters. With the construction site paneling in Christoph Sillem’s ‘Daguerre’ project, we are dealing with the perfect juxtaposition of an object and its copy. (...) With his series, Christoph Sillem pays tribute to Daguerre and at the same time reveals a face of today’s Paris. With his photographs, he restores the charm of magic to an art of illusion that has been reduced to mere functionality.’ – Sonia Voss, Author and Curator
