The eminent novelist Péter Nádas also enjoys a high reputation as a photographer. Since June 2022, Galerie—Peter—Sillem exclusively represents his photographic work.
To mark the start of the Frankfurt Galleries 2022 season, Galerie—Peter—Sillem presents night photographs, still lifes and self-portraits by Péter Nádas which make for a fascinating exploration of colour and surface. This exhibition is accompanied by a publication with photographs by Péter Nádas and an essay by Freddy Langer (German/English).
At the same time, Galerie—Peter—Sillem is a guest in Frankfurt's Ausstellungshalle 1A and presents early black-and-white photographs by Péter Nádas, in which he captured Hungarian landscapes, villages, their inhabitants and scenes from everyday life. His exploration of the depths of shadow and light teaches us to "distinguish black from black" (Péter Nádas). The volume Etwas Licht by Péter Nádas was published by Steidl in 1999.
Péter Nádas will be present at both openings on Thursday, 8 September, and Friday, 9 September, as well as for the finissage on Saturday, 22 October. On the last day of the exhibition (Saturday, 22 October, 11 am), filmmaker Thomas Claus will be in conversation with Péter Nádas at Ausstellungshalle Schulstrasse 1A.
