The conception of this exhibition stems from a desire to meditate on the Lebanese landscape, particularly in the wake of the Israeli aggression on its soil; be it through the unwarranted burning of its flora or the damage inflicted upon agricultural infrastructure. The exhibition does not seek to document destruction but rather to ask: how do artists see, hold, and reimagine a landscape under pressure? It is with these scenes that we can draw out the various imagery that has been adopted by local poets and artists for decades, hence it comes as no surprise that this landscape has, in turn, long inspired the fine arts. In this exhibition, we invite the viewer to observe the landscapes through the lens of various artists. In their depictions, one can absorb Lebanon’s diverse geography: from towering mountain ranges that descend into vast, fertile plains teeming with life, extending all the way to the shores that embrace the Mediterranean. With its natural colors translated into palettes and its vigorous terrain transformed into an outstanding subject for artwork, each piece thus recites its own poetry in harmony with another, transforming the space into an anthology of nature.
