Press Release

Future Shock presents a group of artists emerging from the 1970s interconnected among their influences, collaborators and the next generation of artists working in video, painting and sculpture. The presentation across both of the gallery’s New York spaces includes fruitful collaborations, key early works, as well as more recent works by the participating artists. Taking its title from Alvin Toeffler’s prescient book, Future Shock, which details the ways that all of aspects of society are rapidly changing due to technological advancements, the exhibition highlights the ways in which these artists use new materials and approaches to address urgent collective issues.
