Press Release
Browne’s new body of work focuses on the simple beauty yet complexity of remnant trees and foliage. Set against pristine skies, tangled branches and foliage evoke web-like screens and labyrinths.

As Peter Schjeldahl has observed: “Beauty is, or ought to be no big deal, though the lack of it is. Without regular events of beauty, we live estranged from existence, including our own”. Browne’s observations of everyday beauty do not present formulated landscapes - instead they mirror real images of the observable world. Suffused with radiant light, Browne’s paintings both illuminate and abstract his subject matter, revealing the natural beauty within.
