Anthony Curtis Biography

Since graduating with a Masters in Fine Arts and Design (Photography) from the University of Tasmania in 2002, Anthony has exhibited prodigiously, nationally and internationally. He has also participated in a number of photographic art prizes, notably reaching finalist status in the “Kodak Salon” (CCP, Melbourne) in 2006. He was also awarded an “Arts Tasmania Wilderness Residency” by the Premier of Tasmania in 2001 and 2003. Anthony participated in the acclaimed exhibition Dirty Old Town: Hobart Photographs 2003-2005 which was exhibited at the Burnie Regional Gallery (Tas.) and the Australian National University, Canberra in 2006 and 2007. In 2008 he won the “Wrest Point Art Prize” for Photographic Media, and his work has been included in the large, recently released, compendium, Look: Contemporary Australian Photography Since 1980 by Prof. Anne Marsh. Selected works from his “Liminal” series are currently part of a touring group exhibition, “missing presumed dead”. Anthony is also a finalist in “2012 Josephine Ulrick & Win Schubert Photography Award”.

Anthony’s work is held in collections, both private and corporate, throughout Australia. the UK, and the U.S.
