Chris routinely uses fiction to create parallel worlds of seeming authenticity. In the last decade he’s constructed false identities, transformed found objects into painted artefacts, simulated standard modes of artistic presentation and rewritten art history. He is particularly interested in decay, failure and obsolescence, leading to bodies of work that chart the decline and fall of artistic idealism.
Read MoreChris Bond studied Fine Art at RMIT in the mid 1990s and began showing in 2000, participating initially in artist run and institutional spaces. He received a studio residency at Gertrude Contemporary Art Spaces in 2001, and has since featured in numerous group and solo exhibitions, including being selected for ACCA’s annual New exhibition in 2008. Over the past six years he has been included in curated exhibitions at Linden Gallery, Gertrude Contemporary Art Spaces, Blindside, Centre for Contemporary Photography, Bus and Heide Museum of Modern Art.
