Gayle Wells Mandle’s paintings are motivated by her fascination with the socio-political climate in our present world. This interest started to emerge in her work during the early 1990s, while living in Washington DC and reflected her concern about the abundance of homelessness. It continues today in the form of a quiet protest on canvas. Her artworks are created using old and new college materials, found objects and textiles, photography, old ledger books and her own hand written journals.
