Leah Ke Yi Zheng (b. Wuyishan, China, 1988) is an artist and teacher living and working in Chicago, Illinois. She attended Xiamen University (China) and received an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Zheng apprenticed in traditional Chinese painting techniques at a young age, and continued her art education at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, developing an exquisite practice that combines contemporary Chinese painting methods with a deep knowledge of post war avant-garde European painting. Zheng further distinguishes her practice through careful craftsmanship throughout the process of painting, beginning with meditatively atypical stretcher bars forged in uncommon shapes and materials. She has had solo exhibitions at 4th Ward Project Space in Chicago IL; David Lewis Gallery in New York, NY; The Arts Club of Chicago; and Café Centrale in Monte Castello di Vibio, Umbria. She is currently a lecturer in the Painting and Sculpture department at the Art Institute of Chicago.
