Matt Ellwood’s art reconsiders the messages of popular culture from the 1970s, drawing attention to their subtle allusions to consumption and desire, celebrating and subverting familiar imagery from Star Wars, Playboy and cigarette advertisements.
Ellwood graduated with an MFA (Hons) from the School of Fine Arts (Elam), University of Auckland, (2003) and has work in public and private collections in New Zealand.
