Robbert Flick is a Southern California artist who uses photography as his primary medium. Flick, a native of Holland, received a B.A. at the University of BritishColumbia and an M.A. and M.F.A. at the University of California, Los Angeles. His work is in thepermanent collections of numerous institutions both nationally and internationally, includingArmand Hammer Museum, Los Angeles; Bibliotheque National, Paris; Chicago Art Institute;High Museum of Art, Atlanta; Los Angeles County Museum of Art; Museum of Contemporary Art,Los Angeles; San Francisco Museum of Modern Art; National Museum of American Art,Smithsonian, Washington DC.
Most recently, Robbert Flick’s work has been featured in Under The Big Black Sun: California Art 1974-1981, at MOCA. The retrospective Robbert Flick: Trajectories was shown at the LosAngeles County Museum of Art accompanied by a major LACMA/Steidl catalog. Flick is therecipient of numerous awards including a Guggenheim Fellowship, two National Endowment forthe Arts Individual Artist Fellowships, a Ford Foundation Faculty Enrichment Grant and aFlintridge Foundation Award and a County of Los Angeles COLA Award. Flick has been ascholar at the Getty Research Institute and is Professor of Photography at the University ofSouthern California Roski School of Art and Design, where he has taught since 1976.
