David Zwirner is pleased to participate in Art Basel Paris.
At David Zwirner Paris, an exhibition of work by Oscar Murillo will be on view. Unfinished thinking: Paintings and Social Maps marks the artist’s ninth show with David Zwirner, following recent solo presentations at the gallery’s locations in Paris (2024) and New York (2022). On view will be new paintings as well as additional works.
On view at the Musée d’Art Moderne de Paris will be Kerry James Marshall: The Histories, the first exhibition in France dedicated to Kerry James Marshall. Organized by the Royal Academy of Arts in London, and in collaboration with the Kunsthaus Zürich, the exhibition includes seventy works, including eight new paintings created especially for this traveling show. Conceived with the artist’s support, the exhibition aims to trace more than four decades of his career. It presents numerous cycles of work that unfolds primarily in the field of painting but also through engravings, drawings, and sculpture, from museums and private collections in North America and Europe.
Jeu de Paume will present the largest survey of Stan Douglas’s work in Paris in over thirty years. Parallax will highlight the breadth of Douglas’s practice, which combines film and video, photography, installation, and theatrical elements. The exhibition will present works dating from the 1980s to the present day. Bodies Never Lie will concurrently be on view at LUMA Arles. At the heart of the exhibition is a new film production, commissioned by LUMA Arles, entitled Exquisite Corpse. Set in the world of flamenco in 1950s Spain under the Franco dictatorship, this film explores flamenco not only as a musical form, but also as a codified space of expression, shaped by censorship, identity issues, and political constraints.
On view at the Bourse de Commerce will be a solo exhibition by Barbara Kruger titled The History of Tears. Curated by Matthieu Humery, photography advisor to the Pinault Collection, this exhibition was designed specifically for the museum’s rotunda and its surrounding twenty-four display cases, and will immerse viewers in a constant flow of words, phrases, and messages that take the form of filmed sequences and audio clips.
Also on view at the Bourse de Commerce will be a photography exhibition celebrating the bicentenary of the birth of the medium. Titled Remember Me, a reference to an original work by Barbara Kruger that will be shown in the museum’s rotunda, the exhibition will feature around seven hundred works by more than seventy artists.
Lafayette Anticipations presents Towards a Sea, the first institutional solo exhibition in France by Yu Nishimura. It brings together a body of work comprising some fifty pieces, ranging from drawings to large-scale paintings, created over the last ten years, some of which have been created specifically for the exhibition.
On view at the Salle de la Chapelle at the Musée du Louvre is Les Hôtes du Louvre (Hosts at the Louvre), an exhibition of work made by Elizabeth Peyton and Kader Attia between 2024 and 2026 when the artists had residencies at the museum. The show will present new paintings and drawings made by Peyton in response to works in the Louvre’s collection. Also on view at the museum is Marlene Dumas: Liaisons, the first work by a contemporary female artist to join the museum’s permanent collection. Liaisons consists of nine paintings conceived for the vast wall of the Porte des Lions atrium of the Louvre.
