20 years of the gallery’s existence provide a moment to reflect on both the delightful scenery we have experienced on this parcours, and its inherent obstacles and challenges, especially as this anniversary coincides with a new and profound social global crisis. What else can the experience we have acquired along the way be, if not a tuning in to the true reality of things – a reality check?

In trying to seek a better understanding of this step, we have chosen to celebrate without special ceremonies our belonging to a fragile, but meaningful micro-universe, which encompasses both artists, collectors, you, the audience, and us, the gallery team. Meaningful, like anything built with difficulty across many years, and fragile as anything that does not opportunistically serve the current times and expectations.

IT’S NO CRIME TO TICKLE TIME – the title chosen for this anniversary exhibition, which borrows from an artwork by Navid Nuur – poetically renders a reality in which our professional existence begins to be seriously confronted with the passage of time, which both adds value and erodes.

Plan B was founded in 2005 in Cluj, Romania, on the initiative of Mihai Pop and Adrian Ghenie as a production and exhibition space for contemporary art. The gallery program focuses on researching Romanian art from the past 50 years, highlighting the work of remarkable artists who have had little to no international exposure.
