Galería RGR is pleased to return to SP-Arte for its third participation, reaffirming its sustained engagement with the Brazilian art scene and its broader international program dedicated to geometric abstraction and kinetic art. For this edition, the gallery presents a tightly curated selection that brings into dialogue historical masters and contemporary voices, underscoring abstraction as a critical and evolving language.
This year, Galería RGR places a special focus on Jesús Rafael Soto, presenting works from key series developed throughout his career, including Tés, Ambivalencias, Escrituras, Volúmenes Virtuales, and Vibraciones. Together, these works trace Soto’s sustained exploration of vibration, structure, and the dissolution of form into space, highlighting the conceptual clarity and experimental rigor that define his contribution to twentieth century abstraction.
Soto’s work is presented in dialogue with seminal figures such as Carlos Cruz Diez and Julio Le Parc, whose investigations into color, light, and movement reshaped the foundations of perceptual art. Their presence is complemented by a strong selection of contemporary artists including Ding Yi, Felipe Pantone, Wang Yi, Magali Lara, Hilma’s Ghost, Jeppe Hein, Teruri Yamawaki, Daisuke Ohba, Patrick Hamilton, and Matthias Bitzer. Across generations and geographies, the presentation reflects on how abstraction continues to address perception, material experimentation, spirituality, and the visual structures of the present.
Through this intergenerational constellation, Galería RGR continues to engage with abstraction not as a historical category, but as an open field of inquiry. Based in Mexico City, the gallery’s program is grounded in long term research, close collaboration with artists and estates, and a sustained commitment to situating Latin American modernism within a broader transnational discourse.
