We are pleased to present the exhibition Human Nature at Casa Pentra in Los Angeles. Coinciding with OMR’s participation in Frieze Los Angeles, the group exhibition brings together works by artists Doug Aitken, Atelier Van Lieshout, Matti Braun, Pia Camil, Claudia Comte, Jose Dávila, Simon Fujiwara, Alicja Kwade, Tony Matelli, Jorge Méndez Blake, Ana Montiel, Gabriel Rico, Eduardo Sarabia, SUPERFLEX, and Troika.
With their works, these artists reflect on the complexities of our inherent human nature and its impact on our future: How do we value and interact with nature, from its raw form to our attempts to control or replicate it? Why do we seek to understand and preserve nature while simultaneously destroying it? What fuels our ability to hope and dream, despite the unfolding ecological crises present in the world? How do these aspirations shape our actions and interactions with the world around us?
In an attempt to make evident the paradox of human existence and our relationship with nature, the exhibition explores how we both connect to and stand apart from nature.
