Candido Baldacchino was born in Turin (Italy), the city where he still lives and works today. Since 1996 he has participated to more than fifty photographic exhibitions, both personal and collective. His pictures portfolios have been published in several magazines and exhibition catalogs in local newspapers and in a number of books. He works with several publishers to create book covers. His photos figure in public and private collections. He published two books, “Silent forms” 2007 and “Background” 2010.
These are black and white photos books, all taken with a very simple camera: a Holga he uses since 6 or 7 years, an ??entirely plastic made camera, including the lens. This device, with all its technical limitations, gives to his photos a very special touch, a hushed and dreamlike atmosphere due to the low sharpness and unpredictable “vignetting”.
Baldacchino isolates objects, places, structures in a milky background which brings a timeless, poetic and intimate dimension at his pictures.
