CHARLES SHEPHERD
English photographer active in India in the mid-to-late 19th century. He worked in a series of partnerships “Shepherd & Robertson”, “Howard, Bourne & Shepherd” and finally “Bourne & Shepherd” before leaving India in around 1879. In 1865 Shepherd established a partnership with Samuel Bourne in the hill town of Simla. Additional studios were established in Calcutta (1867) and Bombay (1870).The company “Bourne & Shepherd” still operates in Calcutta.
