Emil Alzamora Biography

Born in 1975, Emil Alzamora is a Peru-born sculptor currently living and working in Beacon, New York. His figurative sculptures explore the human body as he exaggerates, elongates and distorts different parts of the body. Concrete, bronze and gypsum are among the materials he most frequently uses to create the smooth surfaces characteristic to his work.

Alzamora studied a Bachelor of Fine Arts at the Florida State University and graduated in 1998. His first solo exhibition was in 2002 at the Coulter Young Gallery in New York. He has since held solo exhibitions at the Mad Dooley Gallery, Krause Gallery, Washington Gallery, Yellow Bird Gallery and Marc Straus. His work is included in the public collections of the Museum of Biblical Art in Dallas, Texas and the Santa Fe Government Building.
